Tracking pleasant temperatures before rain returns Thursday

TONIGHT: Mostly clear and comfortable with lows in the mid-60s.

TOMORROW: Mostly sunny with a few spot storms to our south. Highs in the mid-80s with lower humidity.

EXTENDED: We remain comfortable over the next few days as dew points hold in the mid-60s and seasonably warm temperatures in the mid-upper 80s through Wednesday. Late in the week, We'll see a wind shift to the south as warmer and more moist air moves in, pushing highs to near 90 with dew points in the lower 70s. That combination will give us a heat index into the upper 90s to around 100 on Thursday afternoon. A disturbance along the top of upper high pressure could trigger a round of storms by late Thursday. If those storms grow upscale Thursday afternoon into the evening, we could see a few strong wind gusts. A leftover boundary from where those storms dissipate Thursday night could trigger another round of storms on Friday, particularly to the south of the front. This appears most likely across the southern half of the state at this time, again with the potential for a few strong wind gusts. Rain amounts through the period will generally be under an inch, but there could be some locally higher amounts in places that see rain on Thursday and Friday. The front looks to settle to our south for the weekend while a larger upper ridge of high pressure builds to our west over the weekend. Temperatures begin to warm in the response to near 90 between Sunday and Monday with more sunshine.
