Fire investigation underway at mid-Missouri sheltered workshop

The Missouri Division of Fire Safety responds to a fire at a shelter workshop west of Columbia in Callaway County Tuesday morning.

According to the Department of Public Safety, crews responded to the Kingdom Project Incorporated in the 2600 block North Bluff Street in Fulton.

The non-profit organization hires people with disabilities to work at the facility.

Communications Director Mike O’Connell told ABC 17 News the fire was discovered in the back of the building around 6:20 a.m.

The facility’s sprinkler system was able to contain and extinguish the fire.

At last check, fire investigators continue to search for the cause of the blaze.
