CenterPointe breaks ground for Columbia mental health facility

CenterPointe Behavioral Health System broke ground Tuesday afternoon for a $21 million mental health facility in Columbia.

The hospital will be on International Drive, near Rangeline Street, and is set to hold more than 70 beds. It will also provide inpatient and outpatient services.

Columbia’s Planning and Zoning Commission approved the facility in January. CEO Buddy Turner said he has worked with community leaders to bring the new services to the mid-Missouri area.

“Our plan is to provide, in the 72 beds, adolescent in-patient services with both behavioral health and substance abuse treatment, as well as adult services with the same, behavioral health and substance abuse,” he said.

The facility is expected to open before the end of 2017.
