One in custody after crash involving Howard County Sheriff’s SUV

UPDATE: According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s crash report, 25-year-old Trevor Henry hit deputy Bradley Young’s patrol car just before 10 p.m. Friday night. Henry was subsequently arrested for felony leaving the scene of an accident and felony DWI drugs – injury to law enforcement officer.

ORIGINAL: The Missouri State Highway Patrol is investigating a crash between a pickup truck and a Howard County Sheriff’s SUV.

According to the Howard County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy was hit head-on by a person driving the truck in downtown Fayette, about 30 miles northwest of Columbia, on Friday.

A witness told ABC 17 News they heard tires lock up before the crash and saw the results of the collision shortly before 10 p.m.

Deputies said the person driving the truck had been involved in another vehicle collision just prior to hitting the patrol cruiser.

The deputy was taken to the hospital as a precaution.

Howard County Sheriff Mike Neal said at least one person was taken into custody.

At last check, the identities of those involved or if any charges will be filed hasn’t been released.

ABC 17 News will update this story once investigators release more information about this crash.
