I-70 lanes closed for pavement repairs in Boone County

A pavement repair and resurfacing project will begin on Feb. 27 for multiple lanes of I-70 in Boone County.

Contractors working for the Missouri Department of Transportation will repair and resurface 30 miles of eastbound and westbound I-70 between the Missouri River Bridge near Rocheport and St. Charles Road in east Columbia.

Guardrail improvements are also planned for the same stretch of roadway. Work will begin in the eastbound lanes at the Missouri River Bridge on Monday, Feb. 27, with one lane closed in the work area from 7:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m. each night.

“We are performing this work at night to minimize the impact the lane closures will have on I-70 traffic,” said MoDOT Central District Construction and Materials Engineer Patty Lemongelli. “Still, drivers should be prepared for some delays. We appreciate their patience during the work. ”

The repair and resurfacing is scheduled for completion this fall, with the guardrail portion of the project to be completed in the spring of 2018.
