A Wintry Mix Moves in Sunday Afternoon

Winter returns this weekend as wind chills fall to the teens Friday night and Saturday morning. On Sunday a mix of rain and snow returns in the afternoon. Late morning there is a chance the mix will develop in southwest Mid-Missouri near Benton and Morgan counties by 10AM. The mix looks to move into Columbia after 12PM before changing over to all liquid by 6PM. It looks like by 4PM areas south of I-70 will see all liquid. No snow accumulation however is expected as temperatures will be in the upper 30s to near 40 during this time. Rain looks to exit southeast Mid-Missouri near I-44 over night Sunday night into Monday morning. During this time, freezing temperatures look to move into areas north of I-70. Where there is moisture still evident on the ground, we’ll need to keep an eye for slick spots early on Monday morning, especially on overpasses and bridges.
