Child hit by car taken to hospital

A 4-year-old is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries after being hit by a car Saturday in Jefferson City, police said.

The Jefferson City Police Department said officers were sent to the 1100 block of Jefferson Street for a call about a car hitting a pedestrian around 4:40 p.m. The investigation revealed the car was heading north on Jefferson Street when the child ran into the street from the sidewalk, colliding with the side of the car.

The boy was taken to the hospital by first-responders for treatment.
