Cole County woman admits to stealing from Kmart, three more suspects at large

A Cole County woman has admitted to committing the felony of receiving stolen property.

Kayla Parks is a Kmart employee, who acted with three other employees. Parks, Kennette Wair, Kenisha Brandt and Brandon Normal stole merchandise through merchandise overriding, failing to ring up merchandise and taking items without paying for them. The group took $4,412.34 worth of merchandise and/or payment.

Parks gave a written statement to Kmart acknowledging her role in the theft. Parks said that she stole for a month, then stopped when it was “getting out of hand.” Parks stole $764.26 of the total amount stolen.

Brandt could not be found for an interview, but is responsible for stealing $1,127.49 of the total amount stolen.
