Wednesday, February 8 Afternoon Weather
TODAY: A band of snow showers is tracking through Mid-Missouri this afternoon, with the greatest chance for accumulation north of I-70. Most locations that are seeing snow on radar, are entirely to dry for it to hit the ground. As we head into the afternoon hours, the snow bands will weaken as they work eastward. South of Hwy 50, freezing drizzle is occurring in Phelps, Pulaski, and Gasconade counties. This freezing drizzle will gradually shift east and be gone by 1-2 pm timeframe. Columbia could see light snow from 11AM through 1PM. Most will see under 1/2″ of snow north of I-70 while locally higher amounts near 1″ is possible. Highs today will feel more like winter, as the thermometer only tops out in the mid 30s.
TONIGHT: It will still be frigid with wind chills in the mid 20s for the evening commute with northerly winds near 10 mph. It turns colder tonight as skies clear late and temperatures fall into the low teens.
EXTENDED: The wind chill Thursday morning returns to the single digits! It will be cold and dry with partly cloudy skies and highs in the upper 30s. It will still be cold starting off the day Friday, while temperatures will warm considerably fast as we’ll reach the 60s again in the afternoon. Saturday looks to be the nicer day this weekend with highs in the mid 60s with an isolated shower chance. Sunday will colder with more clouds and a better rain chance. Rain looks to end by Sunday evening across the Ozarks and I-44. For additional weather updates follow @ABC17Stormtrack on Twitter.
