February climate in Mid-Missouri

We are in the last half of winter and heading toward spring as we go through the month of February. Average low temperatures climb to the upper 20s with average high temperatures near 50 by the end of the month as we gain an hour and 4 minutes of daylight.

On average, we pick up 2.25″ precipitation with 4.7″ snowfall. The highest amount of snow we have seen this month since 1890 fell in 2011 with 23.3″. The wettest February on record occurred in 1892 with 6.80 inches.

The warmest February on record was in 1930 with an average monthly temperature of 44.2 (average is 34.4) while the coldest was in 1905 with an average temperature of 19.5 degrees.

Sunshine is not very abundant in February which is our 3rd cloudiest month. It comes in with 49 percent of possible sunshine on average, behind November and December with 47 and 45 percent respectively.
