Police called to JCPenney for attempted robbery
UPDATE 1/31: Officers were called Tuesday to a robbery with a weapon at 2301 W. Worley Street in the JCPenney parking lot.
The victim, a 69-year-old female from Sedalia, was approached by another female while she was walking to her car. The suspect yelled at the victim to give her her purse. The victim continued to tell the suspect that she didn’t have a purse. That’s when the suspect assaulted the victim with a sharp object.
The suspect fled the scene on foot and drove off in an older model compact car towards Fairview Avenue. The victim refused to go to the hospital and was seen by medical personnel at the scene for minor injuries.
The suspect is described as a white female, in her late teens to early 20s, five feet tall and weighing 100 pounds. She was wearing dark clothing at the time of the attempted robbery.

ORIGINAL STORY: Police responded to the Columbia mall Monday night for a possible robbery.
ABC 17 Crews on scene saw several police cars driving around the J.C. Penney’s front door and parking lot. Mall security was also present. They were unable to confirm any details as of 10 p.m. Monday night.
Police were dispatched to the area just after 9 p.m. A mall security guard referred questions to the building manager.
