Boone County Comission will no longer pursue TIF litigation
The Boone County Commission will no longer pursue a review of a decision in the Missouri Court of Appeals- Western District.
The court system ruled in favor of Columbia in an ongoing battle over tax increment financing districts.
Presiding Commissioner Dan Atwill believes that there are some legal issues with the court’s decision, but he has advised County Counsel C.J. Dykhouse to stop pursuing the issue and have the decision be made final.
This comes after years of tension starting when the City wanted a TIF district but the County demanded they stop.
Commissioners believe that it will help their relationship with the city of Columbia and help them work together on mutual concerns including the protection of essential revenue streams to all taxing entities.
Atwill said he is optimistic about the cooperation between the county and the city.
