Wednesday January 4 Morning Weather

TODAY: It will be a frigid morning as wind chill values will be under 10 through 11AM this morning with a northwest wind. Skies will start off mostly sunny with increasing clouds by evening. Afternoon temperatures will be much colder only reaching the mid to upper 20s.

TONIGHT: Winds become calm by evening and clouds will increase in coverage overnight before snow develops. Timing looks to be mainly from 11PM tonight through Thursday morning 10AM where accumulation is possible. Temperatures will fall to the low teens overnight.

EXTENDED: Light snow overnight will become widespread with most areas picking up 1″ to 2″. Snow will end mid morning for those near I-70 and areas south near the Lake and I-44 from 10AM-12PM. At this time, amounts of 2 to 3 inches are expected along I-70 with a half inch to an inch south. Local amounts of 3-4 inches are possible north of I-70 near HWY 24. Snow ends by noon Thursday and it stays very cold with highs only in the lower 20s, dropping to near 10 Thursday night. We’ll stay below freezing through Saturday and possibly Sunday with nights in the teens and days in the 20s to near 30 before warming above freezing on Monday. It looks dry from Thursday afternoon through the weekend. Warmer weather moves in next week with a slight rain chance next Tuesday. For additional weather updates follow @ABC17Stormtrack on Twitter.
