Police confirm shooting with possible victim in southeast Columbia
UPDATE 9:23 a.m.: Columbia police said the car the officers located at Rock Quarry Park had the windows shot out, a flat tire and blood inside the vehicle.
A woman was found with the vehicle and detained.
Officers also said the gunshot victim who went to the emergency room at University Hospital is being questioned and they are not sure yet if the victim is connected to the Hermitage shooting.
ORIGINAL STORY: Columbia police tell ABC17 they’re investigating a shooting that happened in southeast Columbia Monday morning.
They said they got a call about a shooting around 12:36 a.m. for the 3700 block of Hermitage Road.
When police arrived, they said they found multiple shell casings and believed two parties were involved in the shooting.
Police said one of the bullets hit a nearby house.
Police heard reports there was a gunshot victim, but did not find them.
Around 2:15 a.m. Monday, officers said they got information that a person with similar injuries to the victim they were looking for showed up at University Hospital.
Police also said they found a suspect vehicle near Rock Quarry Park, which was investigated.
Police indicated they have several leads in the case.
