Arrests made in Columbia convenience store robbery, attempted robbery

Two Columbia men were arrested for one armed robbery and an attempted armed robbery Monday.

The attempted armed robbery happened Friday at the I-70 Eagle Stop on North Providence Road. Two male suspects fled after seeing an on-duty security guard.

According to police, detectives found evidence on the corner of Welcome Inn’s parking lot they believed was connected to the suspects. After reviewing surveillance video, detectives identified Quantrell Brookins, 26, and Oscar Brookins, 28, as those suspects.

The two men were arrested at Welcome Inn just before 5:00 p.m. for first-degree robbery and armed criminal action.

Detectives then served a search warrant at their residence and found evidence from a January 9th armed robbery that happened at Break Time Convenience Store on Nebraska Avenue.

Both men were additionally arrested for second counts of first-degree robbery and armed criminal action with bonds to be determined.
