Wednesday Morning January 11

TODAY: Clouds will be on the increase this morning after a cooler start in the low 30s. We’ll have another warm day, reaching the low to mid 60s under mostly cloudy skies. South to southeast winds will pick up to 15-20 mph, gusting as high as 30 mph in the afternoon.

TONIGHT: A chance of rain returns this evening, mainly after 4PM bringing light rain overnight into Thursday morning. An arctic front will be approaching overnight, with a few strong wind gusts possible by 3AM-4AM. As temperatures drop, some ice is possible near I-70, HWY 22, and HWY 24 by daybreak on Thursday morning, mainly over overpasses and bridges. Temperatures quickly drop to 32 overnight with winds becoming northerly while under 8 mph by daybreak.

EXTENDED: Temperatures will fall through the 30s Thursday with skies becoming partly cloudy. It will be much colder Friday with temperatures in the 20s. Sleet and freezing rain will increase from the south, beginning in the Ozarks as early as 6 AM, spreading north to I-70 by afternoon and evening. A mix of rain, sleet and freezing rain is expected on and off through Saturday night. As temperatures warm above freezing near I-44, it will change to all rain by Sunday morning. Areas north could still have freezing rain Sunday morning but a changeover to rain is expected during the day as temperatures slowly warm from south to north.
