Callaway County property owner speaks out after two shootings in one year
The owner of the property where two shootings happened in just over a year speaks out about his interactions with the motorcycle group.
The owner of the property in the 1800 block of State Road 94 says his interactions with the motorcycle group have been good and he was disappointed to hear about another shooting happening just 13 months after a deputy- involved shooting in 2015.
“I was surprised and disappointed,” Gary Sines told ABC 17 News. “I’ve had really nice and pleasant interactions with them. They seemed like nice guys.”
The Callaway County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 1800 block of State Road 94 after being notified of a man being treated for a gunshot wound at a Jefferson City hospital.
The property owner tells ABC 17 News he was under the impression that the club was continuing to host fundraisers.
“The people I rent to are the same people as last time,” Sines said. “I think the club has gotten bigger and maybe more widespread and stuff.”
While Sines agrees that the two shootings are concerning he still doesn’t know what the future holds for the group using his facility.
“I will talk with them and see where their thoughts are,” Sines said. “If they can assure nothing like this will happen again. We need to see what shakes out when the Sheriff gets done with their investigation.”
The Callaway County Sheriff’s Office says the area and group have been on their radar since the 2015 shooting involving a deputy.
