Owner of Pela Cura spa formally charged

The Boone County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office has filed felony charges against a Columbia spa owner one month after her arrest.

40 year-old Elisabeth Joan Trumbower has been charged with four counts of felony forgery, and four counts of fraudulently attempting to obtain a controlled substance. She was arrested in December after a local radiologist alleged that Trumbower had written seventeen prescriptions for Adderall. According to court documents, Trumbower was caught on surveilence video trying to pass the bogus prescriptions and five local pharmacies.

Trumbower is currently free on a $153,000 bond, and is scheduled to appear in a Boone County courtroom January 11.
