Mother and daughter speak while stuck in Fort Lauderdale airport

ABC 17 News spoke with a mother and daughter stuck inside of the Fort Lauderdale airport after today’s shooting where 5 people were killed and 8 others are suffering from gun shot injuries. Michelle and Isabella Piso parked their car in the parking garage at the airport. Michelle walked her daughter Isabella to the terminal to catch her flight. Once they were there they saw people running. “Two hundred to three hundred people just started running. I grabbed my daughter and we started running. I hear people yelling, ‘Stay low! Stay low!’ And I thought we are going to die,” said Michelle. The two ran back their car. On the way, they saw a man that was wounded. “He was shot in the abdomen, laying down outside on the side walk. Somebody was with him holding his arms up… I don’t know if that person survived or not. There was an awful lot of blood. He was moving when the ambulance got here, so I hope he’s okay,” said Michelle. When they made it back to their car they heard more yelling. “They were like ‘Get down. Get down.’ I was like oh my god the shooter is going to come and shoot in to the car,” said Isabella. Michelle said police found them and made them evacuate their car. “A lot of commotion, they yanked us out of the car and told us to get the hell out. They made us go across the crosswalk,” said Michelle. “The cop came and got us. We huddled down and I thought we were going to be dead,” said Isabella. The two were able to finally leave the airport lockdown just before 7:00pm.
