Thursday January 5 Morning Weather
TODAY: The morning commute will be slow due to snow as temperatures hover in the mid teens in the morning, only climbing to near 20 in the afternoon. Snow showers still look to be on going for those south of the Missouri River and near the Ozarks through 8AM. There will be a period with just cloud cover this morning. The final band of snow looks to move in by 8AM-9AM west of 63 and track southeast over Columbia, Jefferson City, and tracking south towards I-44 through noon. The afternoon will be dry with clouds breaking up. Wind chills will stay in the single digits, dropping as low as 5 below zero by Friday morning.
TONIGHT: A reinforcement of arctic air settles in tonight and Friday, keeping high temperatures in the upper teens Friday and single digit wind chills.
EXTENDED: Although we warm slightly this weekend, we will still be below freezing through Sunday before a shift in the weather pattern sends warmer air in for the start of next week. A south wind kicks in by Monday which could end up being a breezy day before rain returns Monday night and into Tuesday morning of next week.
