Firefighters calling overnight mobile home fire that killed cat “somewhat suspicious”

UPDATE 7:44am: Callaway County fire officials are calling an overnight fire “somewhat suspicious” after discovering items missing from the home.

Firefighters tell ABC 17 News six people were living in the home, including two adults and four children between the ages of 12 and 18. All six people were apparently staying at a hotel Monday night when the fire broke out.

Firefighters say a cat died in the fire. They say they’re still working to find out how the fire started and say they expect to stay on scene for about another half hour.

ORIGINAL: Fire officials with Central Callaway Fire District Station 1 say no one is hurt after a mobile home fire overnight Tuesday.

Fire crews say it happened near County Roads 134 and 129 around 4:00 Tuesday morning.

They say the mobile home was fully engulfed and say crews are still on scene right now.

Firefighters tell us no one was home at the time of the fire. They say they’re still investigating the cause.

Our ABC 17 News crews are on the way to the scene now. We’ll update this story as we find out more information about a cause and damage estimate.
