Drastic temperature swings for the first week of the year
The first two days of 2017 have been mild, as we have been 30 degrees above average. However, these warm temperatures aren’t going to last long into the New Year. Monday temperatures are set to be in the mid 50s as a warm front off to the South approaches. After that, we can expect another passing front by Tuesday, this time it will be a cold front.
On Tuesday another Arctic cold front will be passing mid-Missouri. This cold front will impact the United States coast to coast. The high on Tuesday is set to 45 degrees, but that is for the morning hours. Temperatures will be plummeting rapidly throughout the daytime hours as the system passes. Winds will begin to shift and pick up from out of the Northwest. This will allow freezing temperatures from the North to pump into mid-Missouri. As temperatures drop, there is a slight chance of snow in the forecast for Thursday. The ABC 17 Stormtrack weather team will continue to monitor and update you on air and online.
