What’s Going Around: 12/20/2016

Falls and fractures are sending mid Missourians rushing to the doctor for help this week. The doctors at Broadway Urgent Care and Mizzou Quick Cares say the ice and snow from this weekend has caused a lot of people to get hurt. Patients were slipping on ice then fracturing bones, especially bones in the elbows and ankles. The doctors also say they saw head injuries and cuts from the falls. The doctors note they are still seeing mumps in college students, with Broadway Urgent Care seeing seven cases this week. It’s probably no surprise colds, sinus infections and upper respiratory infections are going around this time of year too. Doctor Tara Flynn says she’s seeing younger kids suffering from a high fever and a barking cough.
