Driving conditions improving across Columbia, Boone County

Mid Missourians hit the road Sunday morning after MoDOT crews treated the icy roads for over 24 hours. Conditions were significantly less hazardous for drivers than Friday and Saturday. ABC 17’s crews were on the main roads of Columbia Sunday morning monitoring the driving conditions. Our crews say the main roads, including Providence and Stadium Boulevard, are clear of accidents or abandoned cars unlike the previous 24 hours. In spite of the conditions improving, MoDOT and Public Works advises drivers to stay off the roads if at all possible and take all the necessary precautions when driving in icy conditions. With the lower than average temperatures, ice may be unaffected by modern road treatment methods. For the latest roads conditions check out the MoDOT traveler’s map.
