Winter weather causes slick road conditions in Mid-Missouri

Boone County and Cole County Public Works departments have been salting the roads Friday morning to prevent drivers from slipping on black ice.

Boone County and Columbia emergency responders have been called to at least eight crashes Friday morning, according to the city of Columbia’s online dispatch.

Boone County Public Works said they have crews on call from Friday morning through early Saturday morning or until the weather gets warmer and the roads are safer. They said it’s hard to have crews out and ready when they don’t know where the weather is going to hit the worst.

Boone County also said they are concentrating on the main roads first.

Cole County said they have the full 32 road crews working Friday morning and Saturday morning.
