Columbia Public Works calls in crew overnight for winter mix

UPDATE: Columbia Public Works tells our crews their Tuesday morning crews pretreated bridges and were ready to treat slick roads, however the road conditions did not get bad.

MODOT also called in crews around 11:30 on Monday night. They did not notice any dangerous conditions in Boone or Cole County. They did see the most precipitation to the north near the Randolph County Line.

Near Randolph County they the crews did treat some roadways.

MODOT called in close to 25% of their crews to monitor the roads Tuesday morning.

ORIGINAL STORY: Columbia Public Works has called in a crews due to a chance of a winter mix Tuesday morning.

The department posted on its Facebook page around 5:30am saying it called a crew in at 3:00am due to a chance of slickness on the roads.

It says an eight person crew was called in. Public works is advising drivers slow down Tuesday for their morning commute.

Our ABC 17 News crew reported seeing flurries in Columbia just before 6:00am, but our ABC 17 Stormtrack meteorologists say no accumulation is expected.

ABC 17 News has not heard any reports of crashes due to the winter weather so far.
