Sunday Morning, December 11

TODAY: Temperatures this morning have held steady above the freezing mark. Highs are currently sitting in the mid to upper 30s, with temperatures expected to rise through the day. Rain is in the forecast through the day, with very little expected when it comes to rainfall amounts. Areas west of Highway 63 should start to see some rain increasing after 10 AM, with the showers continually tracking towards the south and east. By 12-1 PM showers should be approaching the 63 corridor. No winter weather is expected even as we head into the overnight hours. Temperatures will drop below freezing, but rain should end by 10 PM at the latest near I-44. Rainfall amounts look to be in the neighborhood of .10 to .20 inches. Highs today will top out in the mid 40s, with breezy winds out of the south up to 15 mph.

TONIGHT: As a cold front tracks through Mid-Missouri, rain should end from north to south. We’ll see another shot of colder air, as temperatures drop into the mid 20s. We’ll have to watch for water freezing on roadways and bridges, as the temperature drops below freezing. The commute to work on Monday will have to be watched, as we do have that potential for ice on roadways.

EXTENDED: High temperatures reach near 40 Monday with another blast of arctic air on the way by Tuesday afternoon, dropping temperatures into the single digits to lower teens Tuesday night and highs only reaching the low 20s Wednesday. Light snow is possible Tuesday night into Wednesday. For additional weather updates follow @ABC17Stormtrack on Twitter.
