Boone County home total loss after fire on West Wolfe Road

A home was a total loss Friday night after a fire in Boone County.

The Boone County Fire Protection District was called out to the home in the 4900 block of West Wolfe Road around 3:23 p.m.

According to crews, the fire started in the kitchen. Investigators later determined unattended cooking is what caused the fire.

Several people were inside the home at the time, but were able to make it out safely. Officials said some family pets may have not have made it out of the home.

Tankers were brought it in because of the fire’s remote location.

Firefighters said the blaze was difficult to fight because the home had multiple additions.

The Boone County Fire Marshal was investigating.

Investigators are estimating $150,000 in total damage.
