Confirmed structure fire on Perkins Road
UPDATE 12/7: Eight units from the Columbia Fire Department were dispatched to a residential structure fire in the 1700 block of Perkinis Drive on Tuesday. Witnesses reported flames coming from the front and the back of the residence.
Columbia Fire Department units arrived on the scene in five minutes and found a single wide mobile home with smoke and fire visible.
The fire was under control in 15 minutes.
Assistant Fire Marshal Jim Pasley has determined that the fire started in a bedroom of the residence. The cause is still under investigation. Damages are estimated to be $25,000.
No one was home at the time of the fire, and there were no injuries. However, firefighters located a deceased dog inside of the residence.
