What’s Going Around: 12/06/2016

The mumps is still making its way around mid-Missouri and the country. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention the United States is being hit with the most mumps cases in a decade. As of last Wednesday, the University of Missouri reported a total of 128 confirmed and probable cases. Many of the cases are linked to MU students involved in Greek organizations. Doctor Kimlinger from Broadway Urgent Care tells ABC 17 News he has seen about 5 to 6 cases of the mumps this week in his office. He says all but one of those patients were college-aged. In addition to the mumps, the doctor also says his patients are battling upper respiratory infections and bronchitis. Doctor Kimlinger also says sinus infections are bringing patients in.
