Wanted Jefferson City man in Boone County jail on suspicion of rape

A wanted man charged with rape is now in the Boone County jail after deputies say they picked him up on a warrant Wednesday.

Public jail records show deputies with the Boone County Sheriff’s Department arrested 25-year-old Brayan Arteaga Wednesday and booked him in jail around 4:30pm.

Arteaga was arrested on suspicion of statutory rape in the second degree.

A detective with the Boone County Sheriff’s Department tells ABC 17 News deputies picked up Arteaga from the Cole County jail Wednesday.

Public charging records show a warrant was issued on Monday for Arteaga’s arrest on a rape charge.

Arteaga is held on a $20,000 dollar bond.

ABC 17 News is working to find out what led up to the charges and how officers were able to arrest Arteaga. We’ll update this story as we find out more.
