Colder Temperatures set to move in mid month

Forecast models are indicating the first arctic air of the season to move in the lower 48, and Alaska by mid December. The end of the next week could bring highs in the upper 30s, and overnight lows to the teens in northern Missouri. This will also bring the potential for mixed precipitation should a system develop. It’s a rare occurrence the Climate Prediction Center places all of the lower 48 below average. The last time the CPC had the lower 48 all below average was in March of 2013.
