Man charged after single-vehicle crash on Worley Street

A Columbia man is charged after a single-vehicle crash on West Worley Street near the Columbia Mall on Tuesday night.

Christopher K. Crum, 37, was charged Wednesday by prosecutors in Boone County with one count of felony DWI as an aggravated offender.

A criminal complaint filed in Boone County Circuit Court revealed Crum is a prior offender with DWI convictions from 2003, 2006 and 2011.

According to a probable cause statement, Crum was driving the vehicle on a revoked license. Columbia police officers said Crum appeared to be under the influence of alcohol and drugs.

Police officers found beer cans inside of Crum’s vehicle and a alprazolam on him.

Crum told police he did not believe he had driven the vehicle or crashed.

A breathalyzer test later revealed Crum had a blood alcohol content level of .055, under the state legal limit of .08.

When asked if he had used any drugs, Crum hinted to police officers that he had smoked crack earlier on Tuesday.

Police officers said Crum would not respond to their request for a sample of his blood.

Crum was scheduled to be arraigned in Boone County court on Wednesday afternoon.
