Mid-Missouri commission holds rental energy efficiency forum

Columbia city and Boone County officials held a forum Tuesday night to improve energy efficiency in residential rental properties.

The meeting was held at City Hall on Broadway Street in Columbia.

Members of the Columbia Environment and Energy Commission met with renters and property owners about ways to improve energy efficiency and help lower costs for tenants.

“We hope to just raise awareness and get, you know, get people to understand that we need to do something about this, it’s not only an environmental issue or an energy issue,” said Environment and Energy Commission member Jan Dye.

Feedback from Tuesday night’s meeting will be given to the Columbia City Council.
