Temporary signal change planned for Missouri Boulevard intersection
On Monday, the Missouri Department of Transportation temporarily turned off the stoplights at the intersection of Missouri Boulevard and Dunklin/Bolivar streets, in Jefferson City.
The signals will remain turned off over the next 10 days so the existing traffic signal poles can be moved to their new locations.
Drivers on Missouri Boulevard will not be allowed to turn left at the intersection. Traffic will only be able to travel through the intersection or make right turns.
Drivers traveling on Dunklin/Bolivar streets will only be allowed to turn right at the intersection. Traffic will not be able to go through the intersection or make left turns.
“This is a busy intersection in town, and we apologize for any inconvenience this work might cause,” said Reid Riley, resident engineer for the Missouri Department of Transportation’s Central District. “We appreciate drivers’ patience as we work to make Missouri Boulevard more accessible to those with disabilities and more user friendly for all pedestrians.”
The project will bring existing sidewalks into compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, or ADA. It includes installing crosswalks and pedestrian signals at several intersections.
