Man charged in shooting at Douglass Park

Officers arrested Samuel L. Moss Jr. on Nov. 25 in the 4400 block of Stevendave Drive for two outstanding warrants for his arrest. The first warrant was for a parole violation with a bond of $50,000. The second felony warrant was for unlawful use of weapons and armed criminal action with a bond of $10,000.

Detectives contacted a witness on Oct. 28 in reference to a shooting at Douglass Park, who identified Samuel L. Moss Jr. as having a gun that day and saw Moss Jr. shoot the gun. A warrant was request for Moss Jr. at that time.

On Oct. 27, Columbia Police officers responded to 400 Providence Road, Douglass Park in reference to shots fired.

When officers got there, they located a male victim with a gunshot wound to his shoulder area. The victim was conscious and breathing, and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

The investigation revealed a black male suspect fired rounds at the victim from behind before feeing the area on foot. The investigation is on-going and the subject is still on large.
