County Park shooting suspect arrested in Cole County

The Cole County Sheriff’s Department has arrested 29-year-old Jerry Gill in connection with a shooting at County Park in Jefferson City.

According to law enforcement, Gill shot a woman at the park around 4:00 p.m. on Nov. 21st. The woman was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

A news release states that deputies located Gill in the 4900 block of Loesh Road. He was coming out of the woods onto the road when he was taken into custody. He apparently had a loaded shotgun, a handgun and several knives on him at the time.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol and the Jefferson City Police Department also assisted in the investigation and subsequent arrest.

No word yet on what charges he was arrested on, but an active warrant for his arrest contained charging recommendations for two counts of domestic assault, armed criminal action and false imprisonment.
