Tuesday Afternoon, November 22

TODAY: Showers beginning to spread across Mid-Missouri this afternoon as an approaching low pressure systems slides eastward. Thanks to the increase in cloud coverage as well as rain, highs today will struggle to climb into the lower 50s. Showers will become more numerous by late afternoon, giving us a wet evening commute, particularly for areas east of US 63. A few rumbles of thunder is possible, although much of this will be primarily rain. High temperatures will stay in the low to mid 50s with a southeast wind at 12-18 mph, making it feel more chilly.

TONIGHT: There looks to be a window where moderate rain rates are possible mainly south of I-70 from 5PM-9PM. Severe weather and flash flooding is not expected tonight, but will cause slick roads for the evening drive. Rain accumulation of less than 0.25″ is expected for most areas, with locally higher amounts near 0.50″ to 0.75″ across Osage, Callaway, Montgomery, and Gasconade counties. Winds look to become light overnight from the southwest, shifting by daybreak on Wednesday will a northwesterly wind. Temperatures will be well above normal overnight in the mid to upper 40s before the cold front sweeps through on Wednesday. Normal lows typical for November 22 are near 32.

EXTENDED: Showers decrease through early Wednesday morning, ending by noon and Wednesday will be mostly cloudy and seasonably cool with highs in the low 50s. Thanksgiving looks partly cloudy with highs in the mid 50s. Black Friday will be dry with a chilly morning as temperatures start off in the mid to upper 30s, reaching the low 50s in the afternoon. We’ll keep an eye on possible rain increasing for Sunday evening and Monday of next week. For additional weather updates follow @ABC17Stormtrack on Twitter.
