Law enforcement gears up for a busy Thanksgiving Weekend
Starting Wednesday, extra law enforcement will be out monitoring the roadways preparing for a busy holiday weekend.
Missouri State Highway Patrol troopers will be participating in a program called Operation C.A.R.E, which stands for Combined Accident Reduction Effort. Its a national program aimed at making holiday roadways safer.
Extra troopers will be assigned to the highways enforcing speed limits and other traffic laws as well as being available to help drivers who are in need.
Troopers are asking drivers to practice safe driving by not driving distracted, making sure everyone in the vehicle is buckled up, and to pay attention to the speed limits.
Troopers and other law enforcement agencies are wanting everyone to get to their destination as safely as possible.
During last years Thanksgiving weekend, 9 people were killed in crashes but none here in Mid-Missouri.
Troopers will be practicing Operation C.A.R.E from Wednesday to Sunday.
