Accused child abuser charged with assault

New charges of first-degree assault have been filed against accused child abuser Aaron Fisher.

Fisher was charged with two counts of forcible child sodomy after he sexually abused and severely beat a 5-month-old girl in 2009, authorities said.

Fisher admitted after his initial arrest to sexually abusing and beating the toddler, but this confession was not admissible in court.

Cole County Judge Patricia Joyce ruled in 2015 that Fisher’s right to a speedy trial was violated, and he was released from custody.

The decision was criticized by state lawmakers, including Rep. Rocky Miller, R-Lake Ozark, and Miller County prosecuting attorney Ben Winfrey.

An arrest warrant has been issued for Fisher, with bond set at $100,000.
