Highway Patrol: Injured driver leaves Boone County crash scene
UPDATE: According to online court records, Clayton Jacobs was charged Friday in Boone County with tampering with a motor vehicle. He’s currently being held in the Boone County jail on a $20,000 bond.

ORIGINAL: The Missouri State Highway Patrol is investigating a crash in Boone County that sent one man to the hospital early Saturday morning.
The crash happened on Route Y near South Clinkenbeard Road. Troopers said it’s unclear what time the crash happened because it was reported to them at a later time.
According to the crash report, the driver, Clayton Jacobs, 54, of Ashland, was driving eastbound on Route Y when he drove off the road hitting a road sign and a tree. Jacobs’ truck then overturned and continued to hit more trees.
The Highway Patrol said Jacobs left the scene of the crash, but was taken to the hospital by ambulance with moderate injuries.
Troopers are working to determine what caused the crash.
