VIDEO: Inside Jefferson City apartment scorched by electric fire

The owner of the apartment complex at 912 E. High St. in Jefferson City said he hopes to have the units back in habitable condition as soon as possible, but adds that he does expect it to take some time.

A fire started in one of the apartment units on the morning of Nov. 10 and spread to other units.

Ten families, including 10 adults and one child, were forced to permanently vacate the building.

“Several of them have moved to other apartments that I had available here in town,” said building owner Jason Corrado. “I didn’t have enough ready for everyone. So, there are a few who to which I returned deposits and a portion of rent.”

Investigators said the fire was most likely started by an electronic device or a discarded cigarette.

The fire did not result in injuries.
