Two shot on Spencer Ave on Thursday night

Columbia police have confirmed there was another victim from Thursday night’s shooting on Spencer Avenue.

The second victim, a 23-year-old male, drove to a local hospital in his own vehicle. Police determined the two males are connected to the shooting that happened on the 700 block of Spencer Avenue.

The first victim, a 20-year-old male, was in unknown condition Thursday night, but police confirmed the victim lost an excessive amount of blood. Police officials said Friday morning that the victims were released from the hospital after they were treated.

The call about the Spencer Avenue shooting went out before 8:30 p.m. Thursday for a report of shots fired in the 700 block. Once on scene, police found a person who had been shot in the leg. That person was then transported to a local hospital.

Police said they found shells casings and are continuing to search the area.

They also said there was a “multitude of gunfire” and they were speaking with witnesses to to try figure out what led up to the shooting.

University Hospital security confirmed the hospital was put on lockdown for a Columbia shooting victim.

Online police reports showed there have been at least six types of assault around that area. Neighbors, including Karen McSwain, are concerned for their safety.
