Teen arrested in Mikel Street and Ridgeway Avenue robbery

Officers were called to Mikel Street and Ridgeway Avenue. The victim reported he was walking home when two black females in their teens approached him from behind. The victim reported one of the females grabbed him by his side, causing pain. The other female grabbed his wallet out of his back pocket. The victim reported that the teens took the cash, dropped his wallet and fled the scene on foot.

According to the official release, the victim said he had never seen the teens before, but they did speak to him as he was in line to cash his payroll check while leaving work at Gerbes. The victim reported as he was walking home, they pulled along side of him in a vehicle and offered him a ride, which he refused.

Officers were able to view video surveillance footage of the victim and the suspects while they were standing in line at Gerbes. The victim was able to pick out Malaysia S. Hammers out of a photo line-up. Hammers was arrested at 600 E. Walnut for second degree robbery.
