Warm temperatures prevail for another week

Once again, we will be experiencing above average temperatures across Mid-Missouri. Although these temps are gradually decreasing, they still feel a bit on the warm side and for good reason too. By the middle of November, our average temperature in Mid-Missouri sits around the mid to upper 50 degree mark. This past week we have been seeing temps sitting in the mid to upper 60s!

The reason for these above average temps, as well as the warm temps we will be feeling this coming week, is due to the persistent high pressure that continues to build over the western US. Once these high pressure systems move to our east, they help bring in that warmer and, at times, drier air over the Midwest. For the past month, these high pressure systems have allowed temperatures to remain stagnantly warm and dry, leading to the above average temps and below average rainfall amounts.

Once again, another high pressure system builds across the western US, giving us the same scenario that we have been experiencing for a while now. So for this week, our temps will sit in the mid to upper 60s, with too dry of an atmosphere to support any rain.

But by the end of next week, our models are showing the high pressure finally breaking. This might lead to cooler temps and some rain by the end of next week. As always, we will be tracking and monitoring this chance for cold temps and rain chances. Until next time!
