Jefferson City man sentenced for child porn
A Jefferson City man was sentenced on Wednesday in federal court for possessing child pornography.
Ryan Michael Moberg, 37, was sentenced by a U.S. District Judge to five years in federal prison without parole.
According to the U.S. attorney for the Western District of Missouri, Moberg was convicted on July 12 of using a peer-to-peer file-sharing program to view child pornography over the Internet.
In November 2012, a detective with the Boone County Sheriff’s Department identified Moberg’s computer as sharing files online.
Law enforcement officers served a search warrant at Moberg’s home in April 2013 and took his computer.
Moberg was not home when the warrant was executed.
Investigators found Moberg at his job and interviewed him, where he admitted to searching online and downloading child pornography to his computer.
This case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Jimy Lynn.
It was investigated by the Boone County Sheriff’s Department and the Jefferson City Police Department.
