What to expect at the polls

According to state data, Missouri is expected to have a record turnout Tuesday at the polls, but county clerks are not expecting the wait times to be much longer than in previous years.

Steve Korsmeyer, Cole County’s clerk of court, said officials are prepared with extra ballots and employees for the large number of voters. He also said they ordered a few extra tablets so signing in won’t take too long.

Cole County will not have extra security, but Korsmeyer urged anyone who has an issue to call 911. He said election judges have been trained properly, but law enforcement will the best people to call.

Boone County told ABC 17 that it has not set up extra security for Tuesday. Wendy Noren, Boone County’s clerk of court, said law enforcement should not be a part of the voting process. She said police might intimidate the voters.

Boone County is expecting to see voter turnout be 34.7% and Cole County is expecting 75%.

Some of the larger ticket items on the ballot Tuesday will be the presidential election, Jason Kander and Roy Blunt will be running for U.S. Senator, and Chris Koster and Eric Greitens will be running for Govorner.

If you need a ride to any of the polling stations, COMO Connect will be offering free bus rides all day on Tuesday. The Boone County Missouri Democratic Party and the Boone County Republican Party will be offering free rides as well.

Before voters head to the ballot, make sure to check the polling location.

Voters should bring some form of identification such as: drivers license, utility bill, passport, and your voter identification card.
