Sex offender arrested on drug, weapon charges
A registered sex offender is being held without bond in the Boone County Jail Friday afternoon.
Shawn Michael Turner, 42, was arrested Thursday on charges of distribution and possession of drugs, as well as for unlawful possession of a weapon.
According to Detective Brandon Weber, the Boone County Sheriff’s Department served a search warrant Thursday night at 804 Demaret Drive, apartment A.
During the search, deputies found meth, marijuana, a scale and two firearms.
A 9 millimeter Bretta pistol was found with at least five live rounds, and an AK 47/22 rifle was found containing at least 10 live rounds.
Turner is a prior drug offender with numerous felony convictions, including distribution of a controlled substance and rape.
Turner admitted to law enforcement that he was living on Demaret Drive and selling meth from that apartment even though when he renewed his sex offender registry on Oct. 27, he listed his residence as 1312 Valley Creek Lane in Columbia.
Turner’s drivers license, birth certificate and some clothing items were found in the apartment on Demaret.
