Lock down at Lincoln University lifted after reported shooting on campus overnight

UPDATE 8:56 a.m.: One student was injured in the shooting and is currently hospitalized. Their condition is still unknown. The person of interest, Darrion Dowdy, is still at large and is not a student at the university.

ORIGINAL STORY: An alert sent Lincoln University officials sent to students Tuesday morning shows a lockdown for a reported shooting is now lifted.

A viewer sent us a picture of the alert sent just after 1:00 Tuesday morning.

It says LU was locked down due to reports of a shooting near Anthony Hall and Scruggs University Center.

Officials sent another alert around 3:30 Tuesday morning saying the lockdown was lifted, but it also asked students to avoid the area around Anthony Hall because police were still on scene.

Jefferson City police confirm they responded to campus overnight to help with crowd control. They could not confirm if there was evidence of a shooting.

Our crews also called Lincoln University police to find out if anyone was hurt in the incident and details on what happened. They said they could not release any information right now.

ABC 17 News has a crew on campus right now working to find out if police found evidence of a shooting.

We’re also working to find out if this incident is connected to two other shootings that happened in Jefferson City over the past two days.
