Columbia clinic offers free candy screening for Halloween

A Columbia clinic is offering free candy screening for the Halloween holiday.

Providence Urgent Care posted on its Facebook page saying its Trimble Road location will offer the free x-ray scan of candy tonight and tomorrow to help parents make sure its safe for kids to eat.

The clinic says families can bring the candy they collect tonight after trick-or-treating and the clinic will scan it to make sure it is safe.

It also says it will hand out candy and coloring pages to those who stop by the location.

The clinic is reminding parents to discard any unwrapped treats or anything that looks like it might’ve been tampered with or previously opened. It also says parents should look for choking hazards like hard candy or chewing gum for younger children. It also warns parents about checking ingredients to make sure you’ll child isn’t allergic to the treat.

Families can bring candy in for an x-ray scan tonight from 8:45-10:00pm and tomorrow from 9:00am-8:00pm.
